The views along the drive were a breathtaking experience. It literally looks like someone took a giant shovel and scraped off the earth into the Pacific Ocean. During the ride I often thought to myself, "I wonder what it was like for the people that made these roads". Building a road that wraps itself around a mountain has to be a wild experience. But that is enough about the asphalt that we saw along our trip.
Growing up we have always seen the commercials, billboards, and other various advertisements that "Happy cows come from California". Well up until this journey we believed that "Happy cows" came from Vermont because of Ben and Jerry’s Ice-cream. Unfortunately for New England, "Happy cows" really do come from California L These cows have more land than Donald Trump, Better views of the ocean than the richest celebrities in Malibu, and they have unlimited free organic food! So with a life like that it’s hard to argue that Happy Cows don’t come from California.
I lied… here is some more road talk! The last stretch of road to San Francisco is an infinite "S" turn that never stops. These turns go up hill, downhill, and around the hill. Melissa described it as one of those old wooden rollercoaster’s from Riverside (now Six Flags New England). I believe the name was the "thunderbolt"??? Classic!!! But with all the whiplash behind us, we finally entered the Bay Area.
Yoo-hoo, San Fran We’re Here!!! (In Rupaul Voice).
We drove over the world famous Golden Gate Bridge and entered the heart of San Francisco. I’m sorry but we have to be honest, we were not overly impressed with the city. Now before you go freaking out and saying things like "that’s my favorite city", we have reasons to feel this way. For those of you who have been to the City you know it can be confusing to navigate if you aren’t familiar with the area. This is extremely true for San Francisco because they have Trolleys, Buses, Trains, Buses that look like Trains, Taxis, daily commuters, and thousands of people who bike in the road. Navigating was stressful, let’s just say we ran multiple red lights. But we maintained a positive attitude and researched a great Mexican Restaurant where we had the best Taco’s ever! Our time was limited here and we both realize we need to do some more research on what to do here. If you are a fan of San Francisco and are willing to show us the best parts, please let us know and we will be more than happy to give it another shot!
Stay tuned for San Diego!
