Welcome back to the Blog of Marc and Melissa!
Since our layover in Las Vegas we have started our journey headed back east. After passing the Hoover Dam twice, we contemplated just not going. But we needed the photos so we made the stop:) If you ever go to the Hoover Dam make sure you go on the tour down into the Dam. We didn't do it because of time, and we feel like we got the short end of the stick at Hoover. But the journey had to keep moving because we were Camping in the Grand Canyon!
Yeah thats right, we camped again... on our way Melissa turned to me as said, "you know this is a bad idea right"? After the long drive we arrived at the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The entire ride I was worried about time, and Melissa kept saying, "Just relax, we'll get there when we get there". Well, just about the time I started to relax, my iPhone let me know that we just lost an hour. But we stayed calm and made sure that we just enjoyed the scenery. I wont bore you with all the details of camping but I can sum it up with these words (cold, snow, pavement, mud, mountain lions, wind, 20 degrees, pavement, oh yeah and mountain lions).
The Canyons are some of the most beautiful pieces of land you will ever see. They are objects that no man could ever attempt to recreate, not even Donald Trump himself. We wanted to give you the sunrise at the Grand Canyon, and let me tell you this was not an easy task. Because we were sleeping on cold pavement, waking up at 6:00 a.m. was no problem. We drove 45 minutes the end of the canyons and realized the sun was coming up on the other side of the trees. So we grabbed the camera equipment and began our morning sprint through the woods and over the rocks to get to the other side. We made it in time as the sun was peeking over the horizon and Melissa started doing what she does best, taking photos. I on the other hand, was taking in the scenery around us because we were literally in the middle of no where. I started noticing many animal prints and from my extensive training with my father, I knew I had spotted Mountain Lion tracks. So I ran back to make sure Melissa was still ok, and to my amazement she was in a different type of danger. She was so into the camera lens that she didn't realize her tripod was set up on the edge of the Canyon. So after I nicely asked her to be careful and back up, the Mountain Lions were back on my mind.
Why are you so worried??? We made it back to the car with no problems and we hit the road once again.
Stay tuned... next blog it's Marc's turn with the camera in Austin!
